Ford Recalls 41,748 Trucks and SUVs for Faulty Headlights
The 2025–2027 Expedition and 2026 Super Duty models may lose lights due to contaminated chips, Car and Driver reports.

Car and Driver reports that Ford has recalled 41,748 vehicles because their headlights may fail to comply with federal safety standards. The recall covers the 2025–2027 Expedition SUV and the 2026 model year of the Super Duty range: F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550.
The problem
The issue traces to contaminants found under an LED chip in the headlight assemblies, according to NHTSA documents cited by Car and Driver. The contamination originated at the chip supplier's manufacturing facility. Ford expects only about 1 percent of the recalled vehicles to have the affected chips.
Owners may experience dimmed or inoperative daytime running lights, parking lights, low-beams, and high-beams. A dashboard warning light will alert drivers if low- or high-beam performance is compromised.
The fix
Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect both headlights. If a headlight passes the inspection, the customer leaves without further action. If either unit fails, the dealer replaces it at no charge.
Notification letters will go to dealers starting Oct. 26, 2026, and to owners on Nov. 6, 2026. Beginning Oct. 26, owners can enter their 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if their vehicle is part of this recall.
