Volvoghini: 1975 Volvo 240 with Twin-Turbo Lambo V8

The Drive reports on YouTuber Peter Bjorck's latest creation, a 1975 Volvo 240 that hides a twin-turbo Lamborghini V8, mid-engine layout, and all-wheel drive, running the eighth-mile in 5.3 seconds at 137 mph.

YouTuber Peter Bjorck has spent months building a 1975 Volvo 240 that swaps its original engine for a mid-mounted, twin-turbo Lamborghini V8. And it still drives all four wheels. The Drive calls it the Volvoghini.

The car recently ran a 5.3-second eighth-mile at 137 mph, according to The Drive. Bjorck is still sorting out ECU, ABS, and electrical gremlins, including rewiring the MoTec ECU for the all-wheel-drive system to get the front wheels pulling. The car also does a wheelie when launching at the drag strip.

The build currently weighs 3,167 pounds (1,437 kg), mostly from the frame and the Lamborghini V8. Bjorck plans to add carbon fiber parts to bring the weight closer to 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs). He has a history of mid-engine Volvo swaps, including V10-powered 240s, and has owned a Lamborghini Gallardo and an Audi R8, The Drive notes.

It's a one-of-a-kind build that proves a boxy 1975 Volvo can be a serious performance machine with enough torque to lift the front wheels.
