1986 Dodge Omni Shelby GLH-T Asks $9,500

A one-owner example of Carroll Shelby's turbocharged hot hatch, but the A/C is dead and the headliner droops.

Jalopnik reports on a 1986 Dodge Omni Shelby GLH-T listed on Facebook Marketplace for $9,500.

The car is claimed to be a one-owner vehicle, bought new by the seller's father. It has 72,000 miles and a clean title. Under the hood is a 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 146 horsepower, paired with a five-speed manual transaxle.

Shelby's modifications included a stiffer suspension, quicker steering, larger alloy wheels, and the Direct Connection body kit. The ad notes that the paint shows age-related issues, the headliner is drooping, and the A/C has been disconnected because the compressor cycles on and off. That system uses R12 refrigerant, so fixing it will require a conversion. The car also has a set of louvers over the hatch glass, a non-factory addition that is period-correct, and new tires plus an OEM fuel pump.

Jalopnik asks whether this piece of hot hatch history is worth the asking price. The car lacks the dashboard autograph Shelby often signed, but it remains a genuine Shelby-built machine from the 1980s hot hatch era.

Would you pay $9,500 to go like hell, or would you send this Omni down the road?
