Ford Fixes Super Duty Hood Cowling Water Leak for 2027
A new diverter part channels water away from the fuse box, and it fits earlier models too.

If you own a recent Ford Super Duty that you park outside, you might be familiar with a costly design flaw. The Drive reports that the hood cowling on recent Super Duties directs water to a hole directly above the fuse box. If the fuse box lid doesn't seal properly—a common issue, according to online owner reports—water gets inside, mixing water and electricity. Replacing the box with an updated design can cost $700.
Ford could have prevented this with a simple diverter. For the 2027 Super Duty, it finally added one. The good news: the new part, number PL3B-C022B22-DA, is a drop-in fit for 2023–2026 Super Duties and should also work on 2020–2022 models, though some modification may be needed for the older trucks.
The installation is tool-free on current models. The part isn't in stock online yet, but The Drive says it should be available at local parts counters soon.
If you own a current-generation Super Duty, check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls for any open recalls—but this fix isn't a recall. It's a design improvement Ford is making available to owners who want to avoid a potential $700 repair.
