2027 Mini Countryman Untamed Gets Lift, Roof Tent, Off-Road Style
Mini's largest model gets a 0.6-inch suspension lift, all-terrain tires, and camping gear to appeal to buyers who like the outdoorsy vibe more than actual off-roading.

Mini's biggest seller, the Countryman crossover, is getting an outdoorsy makeover for the 2027 model year. The Untamed Edition, as reported by Jalopnik, adds a 0.6-inch suspension lift, dedicated chassis tuning, and 19-inch wheels shod with Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus tires, boosting ground clearance on the gas-powered Countryman S to 8.75 inches and on the electric SE to 8.15 inches. Underbody protection, a revised grille, side sills, and rear diffuser round out the rugged look.
On sale next year, the $1,600 Untamed package requires the $3,400 Iconic package. Jalopnik notes that means the cheapest gas Countryman Untamed starts at $45,075 including destination. That's nearly $10,000 more than a base Countryman S All4 Oxford Edition. Pricing for the electric SE Untamed hasn't been announced.
The gas model uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (241 hp, 295 lb-ft) paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Mini hasn't yet released numbers for the EV powertrain.
Buyers can choose from three Untamed-exclusive paint colors: Frozen Nomad Blue (Mini's first regular-production matte color), Hideaway Grey, or Nomad Blue. Nanuq White and Midnight Black are available for those who prefer a more conventional look. Matte-black protective film covers the wheel arches, sills, and hood.
Inside, Untamed-specific Nightshade Blue faux-leather sport seats feature a knitted upper section with a pattern Mini says is inspired by rock formations. Dark brown or black upholstery are alternatives. The steering wheel strap turns Cornflower Blue, interior trim switches from bright to dark silver, the center console gets a ruggedized storage box with an elastic strap, and rubber all-weather floor mats are included.
"This isn't a dedicated rally special, though, which would've been rad, but it should broaden the Countryman's appeal."
The roof rack supports 165 pounds while driving and up to 661 pounds parked, making it suitable for the weather-resistant roof tent developed with Italian specialist AutoHome. Mini also partnered with Helinox on a camping collection of folding chairs and tables. Pricing for those accessories isn't available yet.
Jalopnik notes that most buyers of such off-road-inspired crossovers spend their time on pavement, buying into the vibe. Mini, the outlet says, knows how to curate one.
