Mini Countryman S Untamed Edition: Rugged SUV for $45,250

MotorTrend reports on the lifted, all-terrain-tire-equipped subcompact luxury SUV with a $1,600 premium over the standard Countryman S.

MotorTrend got a first look at the 2027 Mini Countryman S Untamed Edition, a tougher version of the subcompact luxury SUV. Mini aims to compete with Subaru's Wilderness and Honda's TrailSport models.

What you get for the extra $1,600

The Untamed Edition starts at $45,250. That's $1,600 more than a similarly equipped non-Untamed Countryman S with the same Iconic Trim and Comfort Package Plus. For that premium, Mini adds:

  • A 15-millimeter suspension lift (0.59 inch)
  • 19-inch black wheels with knobby Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires
  • An Untamed-specific chassis calibration for better trail compliance
  • A standard trailer hitch (3,500-pound towing capacity)
  • Roof rails rated for 165 pounds moving, 661 pounds parked
  • Textured decals on fenders and side skirts for protection
  • A matte black hood decal to reduce glare
  • Dark Steel exterior details including underbody armor
  • Exclusive paint colors: Hideaway Grey and Frozen Nomad Blue
  • An interior in Nightshade Blue with Vescin textile and cord, gray knitted surfaces, and Cornflower Blue accents
  • Untamed Edition logos throughout
  • A new center console with elastic straps and rubber floor and trunk mats

MotorTrend notes that Mini worked with Italian rooftop tent maker Autohome to design a collapsible tent that mounts to the roof, but the tent is sold separately and not included.

The EV version, too

Mini also offers the all-electric Countryman SE in Untamed Edition form. Pricing hasn't been announced, but MotorTrend expects a similar $1,600 premium on top of the SE's $49,950 base price with the same trim packages.

When you can get one

Deliveries start at the beginning of 2027. If you're shopping for a small SUV that can handle light trails and carry gear, this might be worth the extra cost.
