Jaguar Type 01 EV: 1,016 HP, $172k, no rear window
Jaguar's first production car from its polarizing rebrand is a 6000-pound, four-door electric coupe with a camera instead of a rear window.

Jaguar has revealed the final production version of its Type 01 EV, the first car to emerge from its controversial 2024 rebrand. Electrek reports that the four-door electric car makes 1,016 horsepower from three motors—one under the front hood and two at the rear—and weighs about 6,000 pounds.
Jaguar claims 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and 400 miles of EPA range from a 120 kWh, 850-volt battery. On a 350 kW DC fast charger, the battery can go from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes, or add 200 miles in 13 minutes.
The Type 01 is 204 inches long, half a foot longer than a Tesla Model S. The hood is intentionally long, evoking the classic E-type, according to Jaguar. Electrek notes that the long hood is unnecessary for packaging since the motors are small, but Jaguar kept it for styling. The car has no rear window—instead, a camera feeds a display, similar to the Polestar 4.
Inside, the cabin is minimal: few physical buttons, a 7-inch central interface styled like a smartphone, and an armrest running the length of the vehicle. The armrest has storage but no mechanical purpose. Luxuries include massage seats, cabin air purification, and selectable fragrances.
Pricing starts at £130,000, about $172,000 at current exchange rates. That's more than double the outgoing I-Pace EV but lower than earlier expectations of $200,000-plus.
The Type 01 is the first production car from Jaguar's "copy nothing" rebrand, which first appeared as the Type 00 concept in late 2024. That concept drew heavy criticism for its radical design and pink color. The man behind the rebrand was fired a year later, leading some to expect a reversal. Instead, the Type 01 looks very much like the concept, minus the pink.
Jaguar's own surveys showed more extreme reactions than usual: more 1s and 2s out of 10, but also more 9s and 10s. The managing director told Electrek, "Great design should have the confidence to polarize… we're not interested in 6s, 7s, and 8s."
Orders open in early 2027, with deliveries later that year.
