Jalopnik's $1 Trillion Car Company: Revive Saab?

The automotive blog suggests using Musk's fortune to bring back the Swedish brand, but the author hasn't driven one.

Jalopnik recently posed a question: with a trillion dollars, what car company would you build? The inspiration came from Elon Musk's trillionaire status, which the site describes as bad for humanity. Tesla's lineup, they wrote, consists of four old EVs and one vehicle they call "a giant silver advertisement for divorce" — an apparent reference to the Cybertruck.

The writer's answer is a new Saab revival, calling it "Saab Two." They acknowledge that Saab still exists as a defense contractor with logos and history, and that a prior revival attempt by NEVS failed. They also admit to never having owned or driven a Saab, but have faith they could make it great.

I've sat in product planning meetings where once-great brands were watered down to nothing. Saab had a loyal following and distinctive design. But a revival without experience in the brand feels like spending a trillion on nostalgia. If I had that kind of money, I'd fund a ground-up EV platform that could underpin affordable sedans and crossovers — something the market actually needs.

Jalopnik invites readers to share their own ideas in the comments. Let's see if any of them have actually driven a Saab.
